Tasmania has numerous National Parks and World Heritage Areas, with the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area in the South West covering nearly 20% of the State. Helicopter Resources is committed to ensuring flights into these areas are conducted in full compliance with Parks and Wildlife guidelines and procedures including noise abatement “fly neighborly” guidelines, and eagle and other wildlife exclusion zones. Where possible flights will be conducted at a higher altitude to reduce the noise impact on people enjoying the Parks and flight paths will be planned to cross walking tracks at 90 degrees to minimize disturbance to walkers.
All Helicopter Resources aircraft meet PWS guidelines for landings in the Parks. We ensure our aircraft comply with PWS Washdown Guidelines and all passengers on these flights must pass through our boot wash station prior to boarding the aircraft to help prevent the spread of Phytophthora Root Rot.
All flights that will land within the World Heritage Area or Parks require a landing permit issued by PWS. Permits will generally only be issued for bonified purposes such as scientific expeditions, heritage and cultural visits or maintenance of essential equipment.

Helicopter Resources are specialists in Aerial Baiting projects. We have successfully completed the two largest and most challenging aerial baiting projects ever undertaken in Australia.
The Macquarie Island Pest Eradication Project involved 4 helicopters spreading bait over the incredibly rugged and remote 128 square km Island located in the middle of the Southern Ocean. The project was hugely successful with the complete eradication of all rabbits and rodents from the Island and the islands plant and bird life has flourished as a result.
In 2019 Helicopter Resources undertook the Lord Howe Island Rodent Eradication Project. This projects aim was to eradicate the estimated 150000 rats and 210000 mice on the island. It was made more challenging as the island is home to 350 residents. Careful planning ensured no bait was spread over private property. As of 2020 no rats or mice have been found on the island and the plant and bird life has already begun to rebound.
