Helicopter Resources is now an ASQA Registered Training Organization (RTO), code number 45320.
We can deliver and assess nationally recognised training, and issue statements of attainment in the four units of competency we currently provide:
Our training is delivered at our Cambridge base on an ‘on demand’ basis, and is generally scheduled during our winter period.
Each course has the scope to provide a tailored solution to each clients’ typical type of operational requirements. For example, when training Remote Fire Teams, specific role equipment can be utilised during the training to simulate the requirements of fire response in the field. The client is welcome to provide input into the most appropriate field equipment to use during our RTO training.

1 day unit
Our “Work Safely Around Aircraft – PUAFIR017” one-day course will provide an excellent basic level familiarization, knowledge and safety training for all individuals working in and around helicopters.
This training will provide students with both theoretical and practical elements which will build their knowledge and skills to a recognized National Standard and level of competency. This training includes “rotors running” elements to ensure real-world conditions to simulate helicopter operations in the field and prepare students for field helicopter operations.
Please Note: This unit of competency is a pre-requisite to “Conduct External Load-Lift Operations” & “Undertake hover-exit operations from helicopter.”
1 day unit
Our “Conduct External Load-Lift Operations – AVIY0065”, will provide a relevant & practical training course for those involved in helicopter external load-lifting operations. This one-day course provides theoretical and practical elements to provide each student with the base knowledge to work safely around and under an operating helicopter and rig external loads. This training will include “rotors running” and “in-flight” operations, including marshalling the aircraft, connecting and disconnecting of external loads.
Half day unit
This unit of competency will be especially relevant to remote fire teams and other staff with a requirement to be placed into the field in areas where no appropriate helipad exists. This unit of competency also has theoretical and practical elements to train each student in the safe methods of “Hover Entry-Exit” using the AS-350 helicopter as a platform.
There is also scope within this course to utilise specific equipment, clothing and PPE as provided by the client. There are in-flight elements included within the syllabus to train each student on the various types of hover entry-exit techniques including the loading and un-loading of equipment.
1 day unit
This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to operate aircraft refueling nozzles in compliance with relevant regulatory requirements of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) and national operating standards. It includes preparing for refuelling operations, carrying out refuelling operations and completing post-refuelling operations. This unit addresses aviation technical skill requirements (physical, mental and task-management abilities) related to equipment and system operations of flight or ground operations personnel and contributes to safe and effective performance in complex aviation operational environments).
One day course
Helicopter Resources now offer a combined Work Safely and Hover Exit unit/s in one-day. This training covers the content of each unit of competency and is offered to smaller class sizes of 4 or 5 students.
We are committed to providing safe, efficient, and professional helicopter support services to all our clients.
